I should preempt my complaining by stating I have never enjoyed the training, in fact, I hate it (well not bitterly, but I do) I LOVE competing and racing; that’s what it is all for.
Ok, it is getting a bit lonely training during the winter months! Motivation is tough to come by. usually, I’m just running over winter; only a few times a week, and just for fun. With my current program, I’m currently doing 12 sessions per week and it’s taking a toll on my ability to stay motivated. Just for note, I train myself and coach myself (if we can call it coaching. lol)
On a positive, at least I am back from holiday and can re-focus on the training, and dieting a little better, lol. However physically I’m feeling really good, so I really can’t complain at all; apart from the water that won’t leave my right ear 😉 Swimmers can relate to that annoying one….
The good thing is that the speed is starting to increase, there is still a way to go before Im at race speed, but I have not felt as good running for a long time, so as long as all stays on track with the increased high-intensity workload then all will be good. On the other hand, I’m really struggling on the bike, and I have no idea why, I am trying a few different things and we will see how that pans out, but I just can’t get the heart rate up at all on the bike leading me to lactate hitting me way to soon and makes riding not much fun at all. Im sure I’ll work it out and fix that problem.
As an aside, I’m loving Training Peaks, for those that don’t know its some great tech that helps with training, I upload my program, and it monitors all the work I’m doing and gives a pile of stats, it really does help keep me honest and somewhat motivated to “tick the boxes” so if you don’t know it, check it out. Not overly expensive for what it provides (no I’m not on any kickbacks etc. I’m purely sharing the website).
Until next time, we keep pushing on.
